Today, I had the pleasure of having a booth at the botanical garden of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
We were blessed with good weather, and the event was lively with many visitors throughout the day.
Since it was “Japan Day,” the venue was filled with a wonderful variety of Japanese-themed items, including kimonos, pottery, handmade goods (including mine from Coloratura), and of course, bonsai trees, fitting for a botanical garden event. There were also bonsai lectures taking place.
Japanese food such as sushi, yakitori, onigiri, and takoyaki was available as well, and seemed many people enjoyed eating these.
Many people who love Japan and Japanese stopped by, and I was delighted that so many people showed interest in my miniature clay art and tsumami zaiku (traditional Japanese fabric crafts).
It was a real joy to chat with such people — a very fulfilling and fun day.
A big thank you to the organizers of Japan Day and to everyone who came to the event.
On Sunday, June 1st, the Japanse Dag(Japanese Day) will be held at the botanical garden of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Botanische Tuin Zuidas), and Coloratura will be joining as a vendor of handmade Japanese-style crafts.

There are so many bonsai, and many different shops on the day. Please come and enjoy with your family or friends.
Open day at garden complex was held yesterday in Amstelveen [Tuinvereniging Nesserlaan] and I sold my handmade goods in there.
The visitors to this market were mostly local people, and many people stopped by, saying 'How beautiful!' when they saw the small miniature clay art or colourful Japanese style flower accessories. I had a lot of fun interacting with them while selling the items.
In lovely weather, we were able to spend a relaxing weekend with the locals.
There were also stalls selling the garden's owner's homemade jams, fruit liquor, eggs produced here, and honey, handicrafts, wooden products, also a workshop corner, a raffle, and visitors seemed to enjoy themselves.
I sold handmade items at the Summer Fair of an international school in Amsterdam.
Children found the cute miniature clay breads and sweets, and saying how cute they were! Also people were interested in the beautiful Japanese-style fabric and origami accessories and decorations.
Many kids who visited my table looked happy(^^) , so it was a happy day for me too.
*Tomorrow I will be running a workshop at the Japan Festival in Stadshart, Amstelveen. Please come and join us!
We were blessed with good weather, and so many people came that there were times when it was hard to move along the canal-side streets.
Many of the visitors to this market are Japan lovers, and there were people dressed in kimonos, kimono-style costumes, and cosplay.
This year, Coloratura's booth was the very first one you would see when coming from Leiden Central Station. Many people were interested in my Japanese style handicrafts and it was lively with many visitors(^^)
We were very pleased to have the opportunity to participate in such a market organized by the Japan Museum Sieboldhuis.
Thank you to everyone who visited and to the organizers…
On May 19th(Sun), Coloratura will sell Japanese-style handmade items at Japanmarkt, hosted by the Japan Museum Sieboldhuis in Leiden.
Coloratura has a range of Japanese-style handmade small items and accessories made of clay, as well as flower accessories using Japanese fabrics. There are also many items such as keyrings, bookmarks, magnets, boxes and ornaments for everyday use.
I have also prepared some new items: the music box is a limited edition item with limited stock.
I crafted each one with care. After I finished making them, I did consider giving them as gifts to my close friends instead of selling. However, I also find joy in offering these handmade items to those who appreciate them so I have decided to sell them. If you are interested, please come earlier.
《Place》 Along the canal with the Japanmuseum Sieboldhuis
✳︎ If you walk from Leiden Station, Coloratura is sold at the very front table, just before the SieboldHuis.
《Date and Time》 May 19 (Sun) 12:00-17:00
