Yesterday, under the midsummer-like heat, many people came and experienced Coloratura‘s workshops.
Thanks to everyone, this year’s workshops were a huge success! For the miniature clay workshop, we featured sushi, onigiri (rice balls), and wagashi (Japanese sweets) magnets. Also, the other workshop for making "braided origami bookmarks" was very well received. Except for the very first session right after the opening, all the other sessions were completely full! Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by.
I am absolutely delighted to have met people who discovered the workshop on the spot and jumped right in, those who had seen the information in advance and were looking forward to coming, and the repeaters who came back to see me again this year.
Thank you very much to all of you... who participated in the workshops, who were not able to join due to full seats but left warm and encouraging words, who held and organized the wonderful Japan Festival, and friends and acquaintances who came to support us.
Time flies, and it has already been 5 years since I came to the Netherlands. Starting from scratch 5 years ago without knowing left from right, I have challenged myself through various events, markets, and workshops. I feel so blessed with many wonderful encounters, and it is all thanks to your continuous support that I am able to keep going like this.
I will continue to do my best, step by step, to bring you the joy and excitement of handcrafting. Thank you for your continued support.

The Japan Festival in Amstelveen is one of the largest Japanese events in the Netherlands, welcoming over 10,000 visitors! Coloratura is thrilled to be joining again this year!
I will be offering two fun, hands-on workshops:

Location: Handelsplein, Amstelveen
※ Please note our venue has changed this year! It is the square where the restaurant "Kokusai" and the tram terminus station are located.
Participation Fee: €5 per session
Age Requirement: Suitable for adults, and children who can sit and participate independently.
☆ Every year, my workshops get fully booked very quickly. If you are interested, please come early! To welcome as many participants as possible, participation is limited to one session per person (however, if there are spaces available at the start of a session, you may join on the spot).
The festival will also feature plenty of Japanese food stalls, goods, and exciting stage performances. Bring your family and friends for a wonderful day out!
On Sunday, May 24, 2026, Coloratura will have a stall at Japanmarkt in Leiden, organized by the Japan Museum Sieboldhuis.
I will bring a selection of Japanese-style handmade items, including miniature clay creations, small accessories, and flower accessories made with Japanese fabrics. You can also find practical handmade goods for everyday use, such as keyrings, bookmarks, magnets, decorative cases and ornaments.

2026年5月24日(日)、ライデンのJapan Museum シーボルトハウス主催のJapanmarktに出店します。
On Sunday, May 10th, the "Japanse Dag" (Japanse Day) will be held at the botanical garden of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Botanische Tuin Zuidas). Coloratura will be there selling a variety of Japanese-style handmade crafts!
Come and browse our collection of:
・Miniature clay works ・Tsumami Zaiku (pinched fabric) accessories and decorations ・Japanese-style small goods
There will also be Japanese food stalls and other Japanese goods available. It is a lovely opportunity to enjoy a short stroll through the botanical garden while exploring unique handmade items.

For English Speakers: This project is featured in my Instructor Certification Course. Currently, I offer the course only in Japanese. While I don’t have an English course scheduled at the moment, I am open to starting one if there is enough interest. In fact, I currently have a wonderful group of adult family members—two sisters and the elder sister's daughter—taking the course together!
On Sunday, April 5th, we’ll be hosting a one-day-only event at Osaka Ball in the Albert Cuyp Market (Please note: We are specially opening on the Takoyaki shop’s regular closing day.)
I’m excited to collaborate with Chamee, a Mizuhiki artist based in Leiden, who invited me to join this wonderful project.
