This time, we made rolled sushi, gunkan sushi, miso soup, chopsticks...
We also painted the shrimp and added a glossy finish. Participants concentrated to craft each piece one by one.
There were some difficult parts this time again, like the sushi rolls and chopsticks, but everyone created such cute and, delicious-looking sushi. The nigiri pieces are especially thick, large(they are still very tiny though)!
The process of making each items is fun, and when everything is finally arranged on a plate or a display base, it's the most satisfying thing.
The sushi turned out beautifully, and I’m very happy that the participants were pleased with their creations too.

Tiny little sushi pieces! This was the first session of a two-part workshop.
Today, we focused on making nigiri sushi. Tuna, salmon, squid, shrimp (to be painted next time) and egg… At events like the Japan Festival, I had the participants slice the tuna and salmon I prepared, but this time we made everything.
Since the pieces are so small, it was quite a challenging, but everyone did it very well.
In the next session, we’ll be making gunkan (battleship-style sushi), rolled sushi, miso soup, and more to complete the set.
Four people participated in the workshop today. They created a windmill and lots of tulips, place the tulips in ready-made wooden shoes, and arrange them as they like. It was difficult to make so many tulips, but everyone worked quickly and well.
Each completed work has its own unique characteristics. Some people arranged the tulips in color, while others placed them randomly. Some positioned them straight, while some tightly at a slight angle... Each one became a one-of-a-kind photo frame in the world.
I would be happy if they displays it with their favorite photo.

The base for the sushi for the miniature clay workshop is nearly complete.
At the Japan Festival held in Amstelveen last June, the small miniature clay sushi (tuna, salmon and cucumber rolls) were very popular, so I have made a version with more variety.
✴︎The squares in this photo are 1cm square (for size reference).
There are still some final adjustments to be made. I need to think of the best way to guide beginners smoothly through the process and estimate the workshops time, and plan the workshop flow, and prepare items such as utensils and materials in advance.
Although there’s still work left to do, I’ll try to complete everything and provide the work shop soon.
